Iranian ‘Servant’ to go on screen at Danish film festival

Short animated piece ‘The Servant’ is to take part at a film festival in Denmark.

Short animated piece ‘The Servant’ directed by Iranian filmmaker Farnoush Abedi has been scheduled to take part at Odense International Film Festival (OFF17) in Denmark.

The website of the Odense International Film Festival recently announced the official selection of its 2017 edition.

The Iranian animation will compete at the main and animation sections of the Danish event.

The animated piece tells the tale of a giant cockroach who gets tired of his servitude to a man; so it disrupts the rules of the game. The man, however, attempts to preserve the current situation but soon realizes that the game has no rules.

‘The Servant’ previously won the Best Animation award at the 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival held on 8-14 November 2016 in Tehran.

The Iranian animation has also won an award at the 14th London Independent Film Festival in the UK.

More than 2,500 feature films, short films, documentaries and animated works have been sent to OFF17 festival this year.

The piece will compete with 103 other films from around the world on August 28 to September 2, 2017.

OFF is Denmark’s coziest, most courageous, most adventurous and oldest international short film festival.

It offers a varied and experimenting film program garnered with thought-provoking off-screen experiences, debates, workshops, concerts and much more.

Every year in August, film enthusiasts from all over the world have the opportunity of catching an exceptional selection of Danish and international short films in Odense.
